PC users should be familiar with the competition of two of the world’s largest producer like Intel and AMD. After a long time competing with each other, Intel and AMD finally decided to work together to develop a new laptop chipset to compete with Nvidia. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has long been competing with Intel technology giants. But who would have thought Intel and AMD are now compatible and the cooperation of producing laptop computer chips that use Intel processors and graphics from AMD?
The partnership of both companies will open it to produce Nvidia’s competitor products.
The new chip, the result of a partnership between the two companies, will be designed for thin and portable designed laptops. However, the laptop will remain eligible for gamers who want to play games intensively.
This laptop will also be part of the eighth generation Intel Core and Intel’s first partnership with AMD since the 1980s.
AMD itself is familiar with Rayzen chips that are designed for a thin notebook that will be released later this year. Even so, AMD said that the results of the chip from his partnership with Intel will not compete against this chip.
Because the new chip with Intel specifically intended for gamers, while AMD Ryzen chip is not designed specifically for the gamers although the device can still run the game.
Both companies claim this chip does want to use
Intel and AMD chips will use HBM2 and can be used on a variety of devices including mini desktops, thin and portable notebooks. Later, this portable notebook will provide AAA gaming experience with quality graphics equivalent to PC.
Mentioned, this new chip is a combination of Intel Core Gen 8 processor with graphics C core H of AMD Radeon group.
Intel also revealed that the chips made by the two competing companies would be the first consumer products using EMIB technology (Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge) – a smart bridge that allows heterogeneous silicon to convey information very quickly at short range short distances. EMIB eliminates the need for complex design and production processes so that chip can work more efficiently, stronger, and faster. This chip is the first consumer-level product armed with EMIB.
Interestingly, EMIB can also connect HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) chip from Gen 2 which indicates the use of AMD chip GPU made. This cooperation step is very interesting because it can indicate the end of the development of integrated solutions Intel HD Graphics. And although Intel Core H with Radeon GPU is intended for laptops, it is possible to be available for the desktop segment.
